Artist Guidelines

Everything you need to know before listing your work on MODAM.

Quick Setup Checklist

  1. Create your artist profile.
  2. Complete Stripe connected account onboarding (Mandatory for payouts).
  3. Upload high-quality photos of your original physical artwork.
  4. Set a price that factors in your shipping costs.

How much do you charge?

Listing your art on MODAM is free. We only make money when you successfully sell your work.

How do I get paid?

All payouts are processed securely through our payment partner, Stripe. Because you are selling physical goods, we employ a standard buyer protection window.

Stripe Payout Onboarding: To receive payouts, artists must complete Stripe payout onboarding. Payouts cannot be sent until required onboarding and verification are completed.

What can I sell?

MODAM is a marketplace for physical, original art.

What do I need to prepare for shipping?

MODAM does not operate warehouses. You handle the physical fulfillment.

What happens if something goes wrong?

If an order experiences turbulence, the dispute process follows these guidelines:

Valid Refunds

  • Damaged in Transit: Buyer can request a refund. You may be required to cover return shipping.
  • Not as Described: Differing medium or condition requires a return.

Non-Refundable

  • Buyer's Remorse: If shipped safely and exactly as described, generally not eligible for forced refunds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if a buyer contacts me on Instagram to buy the art to avoid the fee?
A: Redirecting a user who found you on MODAM to an off-platform payment method to avoid commission is a strict violation of our Terms of Service and will result in a permanent ban.

Q: Do I manage my own taxes?
A: Yes. You act as an independent seller. You are responsible for reporting and paying your own income or sales taxes in your local jurisdiction. Stripe may issue tax forms to you at the end of the year depending on your region.

Q: What happens if Customs rejects my international shipment?
A: Buyers are typically responsible for paying import duties. If a buyer abandons a package by refusing to pay duties, the buyer generally loses their right to a refund. However, if the package is rejected because you filled out customs forms inaccurately (e.g., lying about the item's value), you are responsible for any return shipping or loss.
